PRE SHIPPMENT INSPECTIONS

These type of inspections include;

CONTAINERS: Pre loading inspection of goods.; inspection of goods into containers to verify quality, quantity and condition of consignment, noting stowage of goods.
BREAK BULK: Inspection noting condition of goods and/or packaging, measuring goods to obtain volume of cargo.

LOADING SURVEYS

These inspections generally include supervision of loading to verify method of handling in accordance to manifest and/or clients instructions, inspection of loading damage. Inspection of stowage and securing on board

DISCHARGE SURVEYS

These inspections generally include inspection prior to discharge , supervision of discharge to verify method of discharge in accordance with manifest and/ or clients' instructions, inspection on discharge for damage.

CLEANLINESS INSPECTIONS

To inspect and certify cleanliness of holds and tanks prior to loading cargo.

DRAFT SURVEYS

To obtain draft measurements prior to loading or discharge and after loading or discharge in order to quantify cargo tonnage.

DAMAGE SURVEYS

To assess cause and loss to cargo, ship or equipment.

ON & OFF HIRE SURVEYS

This inspection is carried out on the start or completion of a charter of a ship. Primarily the inspection notes damages to the holds, areas of the decks and the ship in general including ship side plating as can be inspected from the wharf or deck of the ship with fair wear and tear accepted. A bunker survey is usually carried out with this survey. As an independent surveyor I may represent both the owner and charterer in carrying out these surveys.

BUNKER SURVEYS

To oversee the sounding of the ships tanks of various fuels and then quantify the bunkers given the trim and list of the vessel. These calculations are then adjusted to a time determined between the owner and charterer.
